The Theatre History and Historiography group is dedicated to the exploration and investigation of theatre history using the methodologies and approaches developed in recent years by the New Theatre Historiography movement. The purpose of this group is to discuss work in progress, closely analysing the ways in which evidence, documentation, interpretation, theory and speculation contribute to Theatre History today and open up new and provocative questions about the way we explore the theatrical past on both macro- and micro-levels. Our focus is not so much on the presentation of finished work as on the discussion and enablement of work that is still in process. After several years of themed conference panels, this year the History and Historiography working group are making an open call for papers. The 2015 conference will supply an opportunity to consider what we are doing and where we are going: to take stock, to discover the new areas that working group members are currently researching and to uncover new themes, directions and connections in material and in historiographical approach. We welcome proposals for papers and/or performance presentations from new and established scholars in the areas of theatre history and historiography.
Papers/Performances will take the form of 20-minute presentations.
Deadline for the submission of proposals: 17 April 2015
Abstracts not exceeding 300 words should be sent to the Working Group conveners: P.M.Smyth@Warwick.ac.uk and Catherine.Hindson@Bristol.ac.uk. Please copy to both conveners.
Only one proposal may be submitted for the TaPRA 2015 Conference at the University of Worcester. It is not permitted to submit multiple proposals or submit the same proposal to several Calls for Papers. All presenters must be TaPRA members, i.e. registered for the conference; this includes presentations given by Skype or other media broadcast even where the presenter may not physically attend the conference venue.
If your paper has been accepted, yet you have not registered for the Conference by the final registration deadline we will deem you no longer intend to participate and present at TaPRA 2015.
