2026 Theme— Acts of Cultural Resistance
For TaPRA 2026, we invite proposals responding to this year’s TaPRA Gallery theme, “Acts of Cultural Resistance.” Your practice work will be exhibited in BLOC, Queen Mary’s new studio, gallery, and cinema space.
How does research in theatre and performance represent, engage with or contribute to cultural acts and struggles of resistance? This can be on multiple fronts, including—but by no means limited to—struggles against genocide, environmental destruction, state institutions, and the everyday structural violence suffered by people on the basis of their identities, to name a few.
Contributions to the TaPRA Gallery are open to all, including those who are also applying to a working group. Submission may include a digital film, sound work, display objects, costumes, or any other exhibition materials related to your practice-based research.
This year, the TaPRA Gallery will also feature a film programme. Contributors may choose to present a short film of their work to be shown during scheduled screenings.
Selected exhibitors may be invited to participate in a panel or roundtable to present on their work, but this is not a requirement.
To contribute to the TaPRA Gallery, please submit:
Please note, the submission form allows you to indicate whether you would like to contribute to the film programme.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss your requirements before the submission deadline, please contact orlagh.m.woods@gmail.com.
You can submit your proposal online here.
Please note: only one proposal may be submitted for a TaPRA event. It is not permitted to submit multiple proposals or submit the same proposal to several Calls for Participation. All presenters must be TaPRA members, i.e. registered for the event; this includes presentations given by Skype or other media broadcast even where the presenter may not physically attend the event venue.
