The TaPRA David Bradby Monograph Prize

This prize recognises outstanding achievement in scholarly research in the form of a published monograph for researchers at any stage of their career.

The deadline for submission is midnight UK time on Monday 6 February 2023.

 

Criteria

  • Originality – What new/innovative perspectives/material/insights are presented in the book?
  • Rigour – How effectively does the book demonstrate sustained and critical engagement with the topic?
  • Contribution – What significant new insights does the work offer to the field of theatre and performance?

Submission

  1. An electronic version of the book as published. You can upload a PDF on the nomination form. We can also accept e-books and pre-publication proofs.
  2. A 300-word statement from the nominee making the case for how the work submitted meets the purpose and criteria of the prize. The statement will not be used as part of the judging process, but it may be used for promotional purposes.

Prize

Invitation to present keynote lecture at the TaPRA conference following the award and costs associated with attendance covered up to £200.

Membership of TaPRA for a year, normally the year following the award.

Nomination

Only current TaPRA members can submit nominations for this prize. TaPRA members may self-nominate. Nominations must be seconded by a current TaPRA member, who is from a different institution than the nominator. Nominators who are not the nominee must be from a different institution than the nominee. You may not nominate or second more than one person for this prize in any given year. The nominee does not need to be a member of TaPRA or be working in the UK.

Regulations

The book must be published within 12 months leading up to nomination deadline.
