The 2018 TaPRA Postgraduate Essay Competition
The 2018 TaPRA Postgraduate Essay Competition is open for submissions!
Guidelines for submission:
All postgraduates registered at an HE institution for PG study on the closing date for submission Friday 18 May 2018 are eligible to send work.
To be eligible for entry to the TAPRA PG Prize, a work must:
(i) be an original piece of work not already under consideration for publication with a publisher or publishing platform.
(ii) not exceed 6,000 words (including footnotes and endnotes) and should be referenced using Chicago author date system.
(iii) be received by the Deputy Research Officer during the Entry Period.
Send your essays and any questions by email to TaPRA’s Deputy Research Officer, Elena Marchevska (exec@tapra.org) by midnight on Friday 18 May 2018.
Submitted works must be accompanied by a cover letter setting out the name, journal that your article is suited for, address, telephone number and email address of the entrant. No identification other than the title should appear on the work itself. We require that the essays are anonymised and submitted as a pdf to ensure a blind peer-review process
Judging and prizes:
The essays will be judged by editors and members of editorial boards drawn as appropriate from the following journals, all of whom support the TaPRA PG Essay Prize:
Contemporary Theatre Review
International Journal of Performance Arts & Digital Media (IJPADM)
RiDE (Research in Drama & Education)
Studies in Theatre and Performance
Theatre, Dance and Performance Training.
The best essay/s will be considered for publication in one of these journals.
The winner will also receive :
- A choice of FIVE free books from Manchester University Press
- A year’s free membership of TaPRA
The runner up will receive: £70 book voucher for Palgrave books from Palgrave.
